GigaMedia Limited, one of the leading global providers of online software for gaming and entertainment services, is focusing its attention on the expanding social casino games market. GigaMedia will include social casino games on its affiliated and popular FunTown gaming portal to become a market leader in Asia, one of the largest markets for social gambling.

GigaMedia CEO Collin Hwang identifies Asia, where the gambling market is growing by leaps and bounds, as the region with the highest volume of social casino players who convert into high spending gamblers.

Through its affiliate FunTown, GigaMedia will test a number of in-house developed social casino games on the online gaming portal through a variety of internet cafes across Taiwan. The software includes a collection of slots, poker, and dice games which will be test-marketed over the course of a four week time span. As part of the social nature of the games, players can also send virtual gifts or rewards to their friends, and form exclusive online chat rooms.
After the trial run in Taiwan is complete, GigaMedia will plan to launch additional social casino games across multiple gaming markets by the end of 2013.
