Two of the biggest entertainment and gaming companies in the world have their eyes on Toronto, as the city debates the possibility of opening up a casino in the downtown core. While most residents do not seem to be on board with the idea, the local government is eager to get started – and so are international businesses.
It has recently been reported that MGM and Ceasars Entertainment, two of the largest casino operators in Las Vegas, are expressing interest in the new Toronto casino. It has been said that they are considering the possibility of opening gambling centres in the city, much like those already located in Las Vegas.
”It’s a wonderful tourism city,” says Jan Jones of Ceasars Entertainment. An integrated resort or an iteration there-of would maximize around-year tourism.”
Ceasars is keen on the idea but has yet to take any action. MGM, on the other hand, has already enlisted in the help of a local lobbyist group called Sussex Strategy Group. Although MGM has not confirmed its plans just yet, it seems that the group hopes to speak to government officials about building a new gambling centre in Toronto.
