NetEnt, the Sweden-based gaming software company highly reputed in regulated European jurisdictions for developing innovative premium online slot and casino table games, is all set to enter the U.S. Internet gambling industry. Through a cross-patent agreement entered with IGT, Net Ent will be offering game creations incorporated with IGT-patented game features, available as multichannel offerings in North America.
IGT, owner of the largest portfolio of patents for slot game features found in offline and online gaming contents in North America, has reached an agreement with NetEnt, giving the latter permission to use IGT-patented games features. NetEnt intends to deliver such games in the U.S. and other North American gambling markets.
Regarded as one big step forward in advancing NetEnt’s North American expansion initiatives, the Managing Director at NetEnt Americas LLC Björn Krantz, remarked that IGT is now NetEnt’s key partner in establishing a North American foothold. He added that they are truly pleased that they have gained access to all IGT-patented game features, which they will launch as multichannel real money game offerings in the near future.
Accordingly, NetEnt is actively making preparations for a New Jersey entry, expecting to see Netent games go live in NJ’s online gambling market by the second half of 2015. NetEnt Chief Executive Officer, Per Eriksson, is said to have his eyes and goals set on the states of Pennsylvania and New York as prospective targets.
IGT-patented slot features range from the most staple, such as the Stacked Wilds and the Free Games. The Stacked Wild has been proven as popular with slot players ever since its introduction with IGT’s Wolf Run video slot. Multiple paylines tend to line up as reels are filled with Wild Symbols appearing stacked or chained on more than one reel. The Free Games are also popular game features, often carried out with game-related symbols carrying mystery free spins or multipliers, offered as Bonus Game rewards.
The “Tumbling Reels” game feature is another favorite game attraction among avid slot players, as the feature gives players additional chances of winning extra rewards, right after achieving a payline win. The winning symbols disappear from the reels, while the rest of the reel icons drop, or tumble into the spaces created by the disappearance of the winning symbols. The occurrence could enhance a player’s winnings from the same spin that produced the original payline win, because the dropping or tumbling action could create more matched payline combos.
Other IGT game features proven as popular attractions are the MultiWay Pay (243 ways-to-win), the Multi WayXtra Pay (720 to 1,024 ways-to-win), the Split Symbol and the End2End game features.
The SVP of IGT’s Global Product Marketing-Interactive, Matteo Monteverdi , conveyed his company’s pleasure in having reached an agreement with the prominent Swedish games developer and provider. According to the IGT SVP, working with NetEnt by providing access to IGT’s industry-leading patented game features, confirms the significance of IGT’s portfolio of Intellectual Properties (IP).
