One of the latest releases announced by Net Entertainment, Drive Multiplier Mayhem has plenty of things going for it, and I’m not talking just about the pretty graphics here.
It has a solid set of features, with wilds, multipliers, free spins, overlay wilds and multipliers being part of it. It also has a theme which seems to be inspired by the world of illegal street car racing, as that’s exactly what you see if you look at the slot’s reels. The layout offers 5 reels and on them a total of 15 bet lines.
What We Love
Since this is a game that was designed by NetEnt, you can expect great looking graphics, something which is true about most of their titles. In this case, you will find in the background the image of a big city at night, with the immediate vicinity being the place where the car racing takes place. You can see one of the cars behind the reels. The symbols with a connection to this theme look great, mixing drivers with cars, nitro icons, speedometers and so on.
One of the major features which Drive Multiplier Mayhem puts in front of you is the wild symbol and its reel based multiplier. What I mean by that is that the number of the reel on which a wild appears will tell you what kind of multiplier it will apply to wins it contributes to.
The 1st reel wild has a 1x multiplier, the 2nd reel gets 2x, the 3rd reel applies one at 3x, and so on, with the 5th reel multiplying payouts by 5x. But wait, there’s more! These wilds can work together, so the presence on the same line of a 4x and 5x multiplier will increase the prize by 20x. If you happen to land a regular symbol on the 1st reel position, while the same payline gets all four wilds, the total multiplier will be at 120x for that combo.
The other big feature in this case is the round of free spins, triggered by the presence of three scatter symbols. 10 free games are won, during which you get the chance to trigger additional spins and better features by collecting three Nitro symbols per level. During each level that you reach, you compete with another racer and you get a few extra spins, along with overlay multiplier wilds.
What We Do Not Like
The low number of paylines (15) is not going to make it a favorite for plenty of players, as the number of winning combinations which land on your reels will not be high.
Regular prizes are also not impressive, but if you take into account the multipliers of up to 120x which the wilds can apply, you will understand why.
It has both pros and cons, as most slots do, but overall I think it’s a fun game to play, it offers huge multipliers and other solid features, so it should be exciting at the very least.
