Microgaming Software Systems Ltd. the Isle of Man-based iGaming software provider that lays claim to having created the “world’s first true online casino,” has announced the launching of an industry-first Application Programming Interface (API), which the company calls “Babelfish.”
Designed and created to make easy the development and integration of a new poker program into existing applications, Babelfish makes it possible for online poker operators to reduce the complexities involved in developing server technology, as well as save on amounts spent for expensive hosting and random number generators.
Touted as a game changer by Alex Scott, the Head of Poker at MIcrogaming, Mr. Scott vouches that Babelfish gives poker operators the ability to customise their poker client at the highest level possible and without the need to go unconnected.
Named after the fictitious Babel Fish creature of the sci-fi novel “The Hitchhker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” Microgaming’s Babelfish has the ability to translate any programming language. Its use facilitates immediate access to the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) and the network’s liquidity pool, thereby increasing the operator’s ability to offer more choices of real money cash games, tournaments and even free play options.
Babelfish’s multi-programming language attribute permits customisation of software according to the desires, needs, and language preference of a target audience. Poker software developers can build one that is accessible by way of different devices, ranging from PCs, to widely-used handheld communication devices, gaming consoles, and connected or hybrid TVs. Mr. Scott claims that Babelfish will revolutionise poker gaming as it makes possible the development of poker software for smartwatches, or for that matter, any computer device outfitted with a display.
Microgaming hinted in its announcement that in the coming weeks ahead, they will announce the first major online poker operator who created from scratch, a poker client using the Babelfish API. Accordingly, the operator will soon be transferring all its poker players to MPN as a way of offering a diverse mix of private games and shared-liquidity that will bring mutual benefits to both the operator and the MPN.
After all, MPN has an extensive portfolio of poker variants, cash games, multi-table and Sit and Go tournaments, including the fast fold Blaze Poker. MPN’s multi-table tournaments have over €4 million in guaranteed prizes at stake monthly. Competing players at MPN engage in Guaranteed Tournaments, Satellites, Rebuys, 1Rebuy-1 Add-on, Regular, Turbo, Super Turbo, Big Ante, Deep Stack, Survivor, Heads Up and Flip tournaments.
Notable poker operators sharing their player pool at the MPN include Betsson, Betsafe, Betway, Bet Victor, NordicBet, Paf, Poker Heaven, Poker Loco, Stan James, and 32Red, which is just to mention a few. MPN’s mobile poker room partners include Bets10, Betsafe, Betsson, 188Bet and RedStar, whose mobile poker games are accessible using iOS iPhone and iPad or any popular Android-supported devices Alex Scott gave another hint that the forthcoming migration of the new Babelfish-supported poker operator will bring considerable growth to MPN, which he says is only the first step in achieving Microgaming’s 2015 goal of reaching the pinnacle of the online poker industry.
