Nordic Heroes is a very complex game in terms of what’s going on while you’re playing, but don’t let it intimidate you, at its basis all you have to do is to click on the Spin button, nothing more. The game allows you to advance through its 8 levels and to get two different heroes to help out, depending on what stage of the game you’re at.
The heroes will fight beasts of the forest and the sea, will gain experience and advance in level. There are bonus games, there are multiplier reels which go up to 30x, scatter symbols and wild symbols. Its payouts reach values of $150,000 before the multipliers get a chance to do their magic, but the wagers can be quite high as well.
What We Love
I love the complexity of the game, despite the fact that it all takes place on the screen and doesn’t need your input, so you can just as easily play it if you have no idea how the system works.
One of the easiest parts of the game to understand is the wild symbol, which you’re going to find in most slot machines. A Wild Logo with fire behind it is visible in this symbol, and if you’re lucky you will get it to act as a substitute for other symbols and to help you get more wins. It’s also quite capable of forming its own combos, and it actually pays the largest amount in the game, a 1,500x multiple of the line wager (up to $150,000).
An even more impressive feature is the Multiplier Reel, which triggers at random only, so you don’t activate it through your spins. A base game win can bring it to the reels. The multiplier reel will take over one of the existing reels and you will get paid up to 30 times the original prize.
The slot’s leveling up system uses experience points, which you gather through Battle Bonus features. The bonus games trigger with their own symbols being present on the reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously, as scatters. You start off with the hero called Thora, and later on you can use Ragnar. The hero fights and fires arrows at a a monster, defeating him and gaining experience from the battle.
The experience which is accumulated this way allows the player to advance through 8 different levels, to improve the value of the Multiplier Reel and to boost the value of the rest of the prizes as well. This feature seems to improve the game if you’re loyal and spend more time with it.
What We Do Not Like
The game is a bit too complex, and even though you don’t really need to know any of it in order to play it, it’s still a bit of a learning curve if you want to understand what’s going on.
Besides the fact that it has all those cool features and huge multipliers, there is also the fact that you’re being rewarded for playing the game in the long run and advancing through its features. I really liked that part, and when you add it to everything else that is offered, I think you will find it a good experience.
