We must say that Wheel of Fortune on Tour was not in the least what we expected when we first heard about the game. Another one of those, we thought.
But this IGT release really blew us away once we started playing. Although the game is filled with theme-related symbols, solid graphics and 90s music in the background, that’s not what made the game stand out from the rest with the same theme. It’s the abundance of special features and surprising twists that kept us on our toes the whole time. And huge payouts don’t hurt either.
What We Love
As we said, we weren’t crazy about the theme but IGT made up for it by making the most of it with a ton of special features. And we really mean a ton. That’s our favourite thing about this game. Wheel of Fortune on Tour is incredibly addictive precisely for the endless possibilities of seeing something new and earning more money.
Of course, the most important feature that leads to all other cool surprises is the Level Up feature. Whenever you see the Bonus yellow bus symbol on the reels, you will get 1 fuel. Collect a certain number of fuels and your gauge will fill up and take you to the next level. Every new level reveals a new special feature or a bonus game and, of course, as the levels get higher so do the rewards.
That brings us to another thing we loved, and that’s the payouts. Not only are your chances at winning increased with so many special features, the payouts are also pretty sweet. For example, Spin to Win Bonus gives you a chance at winning whopping $20,000 with just one spin.
What We Do Not Like
It’s hard not to like Wheel of Fortune on Tour with so many fantastic chances at winning and landing huge awards. Still, there are some things that could have been done better.
For starters, the theme is quite old-fashioned and seen a thousand times before. So, there wasn’t much creativity invested in this part. But even so, the theme could have been modernized or boosted with some cool graphics and visual effects.
Another downside of the game is that it’s exclusively high variance. Although you get all 30 paylines and all special features even at the lowest bet level, that’s only because the lowest bet is $50. High rollers will love it, casual players – not so much.
Completely unexpectedly, Wheel of Fortune on Tour became one of the most impressive slots we’ve ever tried; at least when it comes to game features. The players that enjoy unique themes and visually beautiful games won’t really be impressed, but those that love a good Bonus game (or two, or three) will love it. We highly recommend the game but we suggest careful and responsible play due to the high stakes.
