Gambling Legality in Different Regions


The casino industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. Many people everywhere across the world have dabbled on the slots a little bit. Most of the time to no avail, which is one the reasons the casino industry is so successful. However, gambling is not legal everywhere. It is only legal in certain cities across the United States of America, the most known are Las Vegas, Nevada, and Atlantic City, New Jersey. In order for a casino to remain in business, they need many permits and have to follow multiple regulations. In the United States, the government taxes all winnings of jackpots, lotteries, and more. These rules aren’t restricted only to the United States though. It is also seen in China.

Macau is a Special Administration Region, otherwise known as an SAR, which is autonomously run and is located in China. This Special Administration Region, Macau, has six casinos located in it. The Special Administration Region’s permits are expiring within the next few years, estimated to be expired in the year 2020 or 2022. They are able to renew but with increased taxes, and aren’t sure what they are going to do yet.

In New Mexico, five of the local tribes who operate casino’s outside of Albuquerque have filed a federal law suit to try and save their money from being taken by the government. The government is reportedly after forty million dollars from the tribe’s casinos, and they are taking every action they can to prevent this from happening.

In every state among the United States, it is illegal for a person to gamble if they are under the age of 21. This rule also applies to most countries and other cities where gambling is considered to be legal. There’s one place specifically where this rule will soon not apply, and that place is the lovely country of Ireland.

They are preparing to make the legal age to gamble within their country the ripe age of 18. As of now, it is illegal for anyone even under the age of 18 to enter a room where there are gambling games such as slot machines. In Ireland, they occasionally have circuses and carnivals that contain arcade rooms and forbid anyone under the age of 18 to step foot in them. With this new legislation they are preparing to put in place, anyone who is 16 or older is allowed to enter the gambling arcades. The rule still applies to forbid them from actually utilizing the machines until they are 18, however.
