5 reels are part of Wizard of Gems, and they have a total of 20 paylines on them. The action inside will remind you of games like Candy Crush Saga, though the way the game works is still very much like it happens in a regular slot machine.
It does include a couple of features which are not very common, like the dropping symbols, but others are quite typical for this industry, including wilds and free spins. Regular prizes reach a top value of $1,250, with the chance to increase them through the multipliers.
What We Love
You’re going to find this a cute looking game, with its focus on wizardry and gemstones, with lots of interesting animations and the autumn season which makes the red leaves from the tree fall on the ground.
One of the main features that is used in the game, and which changes your experience of it, is the one called dropping symbols. It goes by various other names in other slot machines, but the effect is the same one. Symbols which form combinations will drop off, with other symbols coming in and occupying the now empty spots.
You can get winning combinations multiple times during the same paid spin, and best of all there will be an increasing multiplier each time this happens. The first win pays the usual amount, the second one pays 2x, the third one pays 3x and the fourth one pays 5x. Subsequent wins come with the same 5x multiplier as long as they originate from the same original bet.
The rest of the features available in the game are normal ones. You have scatter symbols which can trigger 10 free spins, and you can retrigger them and get up to 50 rounds this way. You also get a wild symbol that acts as the usual substitute, and which is guaranteed to show up at least once during each free spin.
What We Do Not Like
Since only 20 paylines are used, I didn’t enjoy the relatively low payouts, which go up to $1,250 only, and which can be improved up to $6,250 through the multipliers that may or may not apply for that win.
You do get the chance to win multiple times from a single paid spin, so hopefully the game will make up for the jackpot size.
The game has the same addictive quality that you would get from a game designed for smartphones, the dropping symbols having a lot to do with that. You’re going to enjoy your time with it, but you’re not going to see huge wins.
