When it comes to online gambling, the British Columbia Lottery Commission is the most experienced player in the Canadian market. It was the first lottery commission to launch an online gambling website, so other provinces look to the BCLC for guidance in the market. Now, Manitoba’s lottery commission has decided to seek advice from the BCLC.
“We are pleased to share our expertise with Manitoba to strengthen regulated online gambling in Canada,” says Rich Coleman of the BCLC.
Last week, Manitoba politicians announced that they would be launching an online gambling website much like PlayNow.com and Espace Jeux. The government wants to reclaim a portion of the millions of dollars that the province’s residents spend at offshore gambling websites, and offering a lottery-run online casino seems like the best option.
Rather than outsourcing the production and operation of the site like the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Manitoba has decided to work with the BCLC in order to get things done. As such, the BCLC will provide software and operation solutions to help the new ebsite get off the ground.
