Android To Obtain Half of the Mobile Market Share in 2012

According to a recent report by Gartner Inc, the Google Android Operating System will have obtained 49% of the mobile gaming market share by the end of 2012. The statistic was concluded as a result of the upward trend that Android has been demonstrating in recent years.

In 2010, Android has just 22% of the mobile entertainment, but has steadily increased over the course of just one year. By the end of 2012, the company predicts that Apple’s share will reached 19.4% but will peak after reaching that point. While Apple has enjoyed a great deal of success in the mobile entertainment market, many manufacturers are creating devices that rival the iPhone and the ipad, shrinking the company’s marketshare.

By 2015, Windows Mobile will present some steep competition, taking over about 19% of the market share, while Blackberry will have just 11%. The company also predicts that the worldwide sale of smartphones will reach 468 million units.

This means great things for the online casino industry, as more and more operators stretch their boundaries into the mobile market. An increasing number of online gambling companies are creating their own applications for mobile phones, as the demand for entertainment on-the-go increases.
