Magic Jester is the latest video slot coming from Novomatic’s creative kitchen. The 2016 release is a classic fruit machine with five rows and 10 adjustable paylines which pay left to right.
The main theme of the slot is the Jester, a fool from medieval kingdoms. The reels are set on a blueish background, while the symbols used are quite common for fruit machines, like Sevens, Cherries, Bells and Watermelons.
Magic Jester houses some nice graphics and a medieval soundtrack, while the only special feature is the Magic Reels, which will award spinners with double and triple symbols that can award spinners with lots of winning combinations and up to 80,000 coins.
What We Love
The only special feature in this Novomatic product is the Magic Reels, which is a very good addition to a standard fruit machine. We love the fact that we can land multiple winning combinations in a single reel, due to the fact that in Magic Reels high-value symbols can be doubled or tripled.
The thing is that you get one or more magic reels in every spin, which is why it is possible to land fifteen high value symbols in a single payline, and once that happens, you are in for a treat, because hefty payouts will finish on your balance, up to 80,000 coins to be exact.
We definitely like the fact that Novomatic made some improvement in the graphics department with the 2016 release. Crisp graphics, solid animations and reels that run as smoothly as possible in combination with a cute soundtrack make this slot very appealing when talking about the visual appearance.
What We Do Not Like
First of all, let us say that, when talking about Magic Jester slot, this is the first time we wished that What We Do Not Like section came first in this text, because there is more than enough material for it.
Despite the fact Novomatic did a pretty good job regarding the graphics, the very first thing that we did not like in the 2016 release is the Menu bar and the Spin button. The arrangement of the Menu is really stupid, while in Paytable you need to hold the right click and move your mouse in order to move on the next page, which is a bit of a problem for those spinners who use touchpad on their laptops.
We simply hate the fact that we need to hold the Spin button for a long time in order to activate Autoplay, and it happened more than once that we moved our finger from the mouse too early, failed to activate Autoplay, and had to wait for the spin to end before trying again, and it really pissed us off!
Moving on to the gameplay part. There is almost nothing interesting in this slot except the Magic Reels. No Scatters, no Bonus rounds, no Free Spins, no action whatsoever! We love our slots packed with action and special features, so we have to admit that we got bored while testing Magic Jester after only a couple of spins.
And the theme itself is used more times than we can remember. One should expect that one of the leaders in land based casino industry would produce an interesting slot worthy of their name, but Novomatic failed to do so with Magic Jester.
Usually we would try not to sound cruel and first look for the positives that could make this slot stand out from the crowd, but we are afraid there is nothing special about Magic Jester. A pretty common theme combined with too simple gameplay will definitely not look attractive to spinners.
A single special feature, which, truth being told, can be quite lucrative from time to time, is simply not enough. The good people of Novomatic really disappointed us with lack of creativity with this product, because we really expected more from a company of that quality. A classic fruity themed after a Jester is a story told so many times in the past.
