Swedish Gambling Firm Betsson Launches Apple Mobile Gaming App

Betsson, an online gambling firm operating primarily in Sweden, is transitioning into the mobile gambling market.  The company announced the launch of its brand new mobile casino and sportsbook app for iPhone and iPad gamers, which will be followed up shortly by an Android gaming app.

Betsson first developed a mobile gaming network earlier this year in June.  The company analyzed its share of revenue, and determined nearly 10 percent of sportsbetting wagers were through mobile devices.  This traffic generated over €45 million ($63 million) in activity during the first quarter of mobile operations.

Magnus Silfverberg, CEO of Betsson, believes the new Apple app and the upcoming Android app will help Betsson become a world class leader in mobile gambling.

We see that gambling via smartphones is growing rapidly and we are confident that native apps are the form that the customers will choose in the future.”

According to Silfverberg, the app complies with all of Apple’s regulations, and qualifies for placement within the App store.  The regulations include commitments from Betsson to only make the app accessible in markets where online and mobile gambling is licensed and regulated.  In Europe, this includes countries like Sweden whereas in North America, Betsson could market the app to Canada.

The app also coincides with the release of a new sportsbetting game called 1×2.  Players must bet on at least 13 football matches in this game, and wins are multiplied dramatically if players correctly bet on at least 10 of the matches.  Betsson believes the 1×2 game is a significant improvement over a game powered by former partner Svenska Spel, who is now a direct competitor.
