Russel Brand fans were disappointed as they waited for him to arrive to Casino Rama to perform his show. The United Kingdom comedian and husband to Katy Perry took to his Twitter account and tweeted to fans “Hey! I’m gonna be late for Casino Rama show unless someone can force Canadian customs officials to let us land in Orillia! How do you manipulate customs officials? I must perform at Casino Rama, Orilla tonight at 9 for 5,000 Canadians.”
Of course, hours later after the show was scheduled, Brand tweeted “Tonight’s Casino Rama show postponed. I’m sorry. I can’t enter Canada. We must abolish the borders between our nations and our minds.”
It was a very strange predicament, and many Canadians and the media wondered why Brand was not allowed into Canada, and why he seemed to have had so many issues with customs.
Following the media uproar, Casino Rama set about to straightening things out with the media. According to them, Russel Brand had never even left California, and his plane had technical problems. There wasn’t enough time to charter another place to get him to the casino on time either. In all actuality, Brand’s Tweets were nothing more than a joke, though many took it seriously. Looks like he still managed to entertain Canadians, even if he couldn’t be there to do so.
