The owners of the Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam BC are rebranding the entertainment centre as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The venue is due to reopen on December 20, and will headline performances from two Canadian artists to launch the casino and close 2013.
The grand opening on December 20 will feature Hedley, a band originally founded in BC back in 2003. The band quickly became popular across mainstream Canada, and earned nominations for several albums as well as hit singles.
But casino fans are likely more excited for the Hard Rock Casino’s New Year’s Eve performance, where Our Lady Peace will headline the evening. The alternative group, founded in Toronto in 1992, was labelled as post-grunge by fans and musical experts alike.
Over the years, OLP became one of Canada’s most successful bands, having released eight studio albums and two compilation albums. The band’s work earned them four Juno Awards, and was very popular with Canada’s MuchMusic – winning a total of 10 MuchMusic Video Awards.
Hard Rock Casino is offering two types of tickets to the OLP New Year’s Eve show. The general admission price is $99.50, but fans can also buy into the pre-show reception at $139.50. The pre-show event includes a special dinner where attendees sample the new Hard Rock Casino menu, and are treated to a customary glass of champagne.
Both sets of tickets will be available for sale beginning on Halloween at 10am PST. ‘Somewhere Out There’ is your chance to see OLP live at the Hard Rock Casino – bet on it!
