One of the slot machines which came out of Microgaming, Peek-a-Boo is a 5 reel title, with up to 40 active lines on it. Its theme is inspired by Halloween, by ghosts and by the Ghostbusters franchise, at least if we go by the main character, a kid dressed like he’s ready to fight scary creatures. Like many games do these days, it will have its own way to trigger some of its features, which few other slot machines use.
What We Love
Quite a few things are enjoyable in the case of Peek-a-Boo, including its graphics and its features. You will find that the game looks like it was made especially for the Halloween season, featuring candy in more than half of its symbols. The other half uses images with the cute kid that is dressed like a ghostbuster and has some kind of plastic gun in his hands, and with the various angry ghosts. There isn’t much to see in the background image, just a blue abstract picture, but it works for it anyway.
The logo of the slot is visible in one of the symbols from Peek-a-Boo, the one which also has the role of a wild. You will get stacked wilds on all the reels of the slot, while during free spins they will be super stacked on the last two. As a wild, expect it to use its powers to replace other symbols.
A wild will always need to be in the right position to be of assistance, and the rest of the positions of the payline will need to have their own matching symbols. The wild is also useful because it offers its own prizes when it forms combinations made out of logos only, paying up to 1,000x if this happens.
Now, to get to the free spins mode, Microgaming used an unusual method. From time to time, you will get the Ghostbuster Kid on the 3rd reel. When he appears there, he zaps one ghost from each reel of the slot, if there is one there. The zapped ghosts are stored in the Ghost Meter you see on the right side of the game. Once you get to at least 10 ghosts, you trigger the free spins. You get a minimum of 10 free spins, and up to 13, depending on how many ghosts you had at that point.
What We Do Not Like
There is a small downside as well to this game, and for me it’s the top prize which it offers. It might be worth up to $10,000, but you need bets of $400 per spin to get that kind of payday. The multiplier of the line bet would be at 1,000x if you get the best possible combo.
I believe you will enjoy this game, especially thanks to the stacked wilds and the ghost zapping kid, so give it a shot if you’re into scary slot machines or Halloween.
