Windsor Casino Donates 20K for Holidays

The gambling industry seems to be getting into the holiday spirit, too. Since this is the time for giving, Caesars Casino in Windsor is planning on donating $20 000 to local charities as a holiday gift.

The choice was left to the employees of the casino. They were allowed to vote and choose five charities which they felt most deserved the donations. The charities chosen were: the Salvation Army, the Goodfellows of Windsor, the Essex Food Bank, the Unemployed Help Centre and the Windsor firefighters’ Toy Drive.

Caesars also donated over $1000 to the Salvation Army’s Coats for Kids Radioathon. This particular charity provides winter coats for less fortunate children. In our cold, Canadian climate, this is valuable service, and it is great to see casinos support it.

The gambling industry might seem selfish, as it seemingly only revolves around money passing hands. However, casino operators and owners are incredibly wealthy individuals. Often, many operators use their resources to help those who are less fortunate, especially  at Christmas-time.

“We are proud to assist these worthwhile charities whose tireless efforts make the season bright for so many in our community,” Kevin Laforet Caesars’ CEO.
