World Series of Poker champion Phil Ivey wants to improve social media poker. The poker champion spoke with ESPN about his new website, where the slogan is “it’s more fun when you win.”
“I think a lot of people really don’t know how to play poker, and I think this is going to be an opportunity to play with the best players in the world.”
The site will provide players free video instruction from some of the biggest names in poker. Ivey says this will allow players to interact during online games to learn strategy and what it takes to be a winner. In addition to Ivey himself, the instructional team consists of Greg Merson, who is currently one of the players at the 2012 World Series of Poker final table event; fellow poker champion Jennifer Harmon, and professional player Patrik Antonius.
Ivey says he hand-picked each of his team members himself because he considers their skills to be among the best in the world. He says the site is still in its development stage with little more to it than a mailing list subscription, but when it becomes fully developed, he hopes poker players who want to become poker winners will visit the site, and learn how to develop a winning game.
“What we’re doing here is teaching people how to become a winning poker player.”
Ivey refused to discuss anything related to the Full Tilt Poker ‘Black Friday’ scandal, of which he was involved in a controversial lawsuit with the online poker domain. He also is the subject of recent scandal due to his winnings at Crockfords casino in London not being submitted to him because of suspicions of collusion.
