One Penny Slot Spin Turns Into $2.6 Million Payout At Borgata Casino

The Borgata Casino is the most profitable of the Atlantic City casinos, which is reportedly worth over $1.1 billion. The Borgata hosts a wide variety of slots, table games, poker tournaments, and is even used as a location for movies that feature casinos.

Large casinos are also known to provide a collection of penny slots. As the largest casino along the New Jersey boardwalk, the Borgata hosts its own penny slots, which allow players to bet a minimum of 1 penny, and a maximum of $4. The penny slots are promoted as a less expensive, but still thrilling casino game for players with less disposable money to spend in the casino.

However, one man from Connecticut, who asked that his identity remain anonymous, turned one $4 bet on the penny slots into a $2.6 million reward. Casino officials say the man sat down at the “Wizard of Oz Emerald City” game for less than a minute, and walked away a millionaire.

The Borgata staff is familiar with the Connecticut man, who reportedly came to Atlantic City once a month for the past two years. On his latest trip, the man participated in one of the casino’s poker tournaments, but was eliminated from the daily tournament. After leaving the poker table, the man appeared to be leaving, but spotted the penny slots, and gave his luck a shot.

Tim Burke, Vice President of Slot Operations at the Borgata, says the casino is always happy to reward loyal players.

It’s always a thrill to see one of our loyal Borgata customers win a life-changing jackpot. I can’t think of a more lucrative 60-second investment!”
