Facebook Forays Into Online Gambling

 Facebook is already the top platform for social gaming on the internet. Now, Facebook may be expanding its gaming options, as recent rumours indicate that the social networking site may be looking into online gambling. 

According to EGR Magazine, an insider source claims that Facebook has hired a number of employees to help jumpstart a new online gambling offering. Operators, affiliates, consultants and developers were all sought out in order to have a consultation in order to determine how Facebook should go forward with its plans to offer online casino games. 

Apparently, 8 licenses will be issued. However, no companies have been named yet. Rumours have been circulating that 888 will be one of the first companies to receive a license, but the online gambling operator have refused to comment. 

Facebook is an ideal platform for online gambling operators. The social networking site reaches 500 million people around the world, and generates billions of dollars in advertising revenue. The network’s social gaming market has developed greatly over the years, with free play casino games like Zynga Poker captivate millions of players around the world.
