US Gamblers May Cost Online Casino Affiliates More Than They Bargained For
Onlinecasino.org News | 02.01.2009 | 11:47:09 | Views: 255 | Casino NewsIts seems that a lot of the talk in the online gambling industry has lately been focused on the probable possibility that the US would create legislation that would permit the US population back into legal and monitored online gambling.
Companies and people that have anything to do with the industry have been more than excited to have these laws passed. However, there has recently been a realization by Joe Brennan Jr., an expert in the industry and CEO of Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association, that the state of New York’s law suit with regards to online shopping company Amazon may imply to the internet gambling industry as well.
The state of New York is aiming to place taxes on the company as a whole and in order to do this to the Seattle based online retail company, NY is attempting to tax the affiliates of the company also. And while this does not have a direct link or connection to the online gambling industry it could see a shadow affect on online casino affiliates and affiliates of any industry that operates on an internet platform in the future.
If this were to pass the effect would likely follow through to the remainder of the online industry as a whole.
Currently the affiliate sites of online gambling do not fall into any legislation as they are not sites that contain any gambling software but simply have information with regards to the industry. Many think it will be interesting to see what develops with this regard as the case in New York with Amazon comes to a close.
