Onlinecasino.org News | 23.01.2007 | 18:45:09 | Views: 325 | Casino NewsAt this years European Poker Tournament (EPT) in Copenhagen, 29-year-old financial adviser from Stockholm, Magnus Petersson, won more than 4 million Danish Kroner (approximately €537,000), after beating out some of the world’s best poker players.
During a $475 PokerStars online satellite tournament, Petersson won his seat for the EPT, giving him a chance to beat last year's record of $30,000 as 438th position in The World Series of Poker.
There were only three players left in the game, and Petersson was the small stack. He amazingly turned the game around by winning a huge pot with a 7-2 off-suit, which is statistically the worst hand in poker.
Petersson comments on the tournament, "That really turned things around for me. It completely changed my table image. It's been an incredibly tough tournament, with no weak players."
The EPT was a four-day event, with a total prize fund of over 13 million Danish Kroner (approximately €1,744,000), with Petersson and 400 other players preparing for some fierce competition.
The EPT is one of the top multi-country televised poker series in the world. The official sponsor for the EPT is the world's most innovative online poker site, PokerStars.
