According to The Townsville Bulletin a 50 year old woman scammed 7 elderly men for a total of $135.000.

"A WOMAN who scammed $135,000 from seven elderly men she met through lonely heart ads has told a Sydney court she needed the money to feed her gambling habit and to support her son's heroin addiction."

"She defrauded seven elderly men ? both single and married ? of $135,000 between 1997 and May last year, after placing advertisements in newspaper personals columns."

"Once she had befriended them, Ms Reed asked for money by cash or cheque for cruise holidays or business ventures."
