ME DOMAINS NAMES HIT MARKET IN RECORD STYLE - Domain auction

Onlinecasino.org News | 26.08.2008 | 05:52:54 | Views: 482 | Casino News

Domain names are a big part of any internet business. As anybody that has had a modicum of success in the online world can tell you, an easy to remember domain name is absolutely essential to name branding yourself in the online market.

For this reason, all of the really good domain names for .com, .org and .net were snapped up a long time ago, leaving people to fend for themselves in having to come up with really creative domain names that have the same effect.

Well, something has hit the market recently that has helped certain people alleviate anxiety felt about this part of their online business. It is the .me domain extension and when combined with domain names like Lucky, rank and tag and Kiss.Me, Youand.Me, Insure.me, Vegas.me (amongst many others), it has the potential to create a completely new way of looking at websites. These types of websites can become the new craze if the market breaks for them and if the domain names are snapped up by entrepreneurial people who understand what it is they just purchased.

All indications are that a fair number of the people working in online fields understand the potential of the new .me domain names, because many of them were snapped up at the bargain basement price of $99.98 during the opening bid period in June. However, many domain names were purchased by more than one person and rather than operate a first come, first serve way of doing things the people in charge of disseminating the .me domain names into the public sphere are holding auctions for them just as would be done for .com domain names that expired.

Auctions are a very good way to measure exactly how people feel about a particular item and for that reason alllot the news agencies that follow online events made sure they had correspondents available to consistently check on the auctions. Their job entailed looking at the entire list of auctions, taking note of which domain names tended to be the most popular and even trying to get information how people were planning to use the domain names they received.

As far as the overall statistics were concerned, the .me domain names surpassed everyone’s expectations in terms of popularity. There were tens of thousands of me domain names registered within the first day registration. GoDaddy.com, the world's giant in the field of domain name registration, reported that they received over 20,000 different registration requests within the first 24 hours.

According to founder and CEO Bob Parsons of domain giant GoDaddy.com Corporation, that number quite handily breaks their previous record of registrations within the first twenty-four hours.

On the starting of the Me land-rush online auction many of the names were quickly bid up to thousands of dollars within a matter of seconds..

The even more amazing part is that only few where/are allowed to bid on the current .Me land-rush auction (see here why ), plus the major bidding is expected to happen in September when many of the premium domain names are scheduled to come up for bidding.

It is not inconceivable that the .me craze could end up setting a record and that breaking that same record a short while later because of how popular these .me domain names have become.

Many of the land-rush auctions have ended however, some with startling results. The domain name Toyota.me landed a whopping $90,025 in the opening bidding, while the compelling domain name of insure.me scored a very impressive $68,000. With these types of domain names scoring the big bucks, it is only a matter of time before we will see domain names that score six figure final bids "very likely" in Septembers premium .me domain auction where everybody will be able to bid. The current land-rush online auction is still going with a current top bid of $41,005 on the Me domain sync.me.

As previously mentioned, these opening bids are only the first wave. Some of the truly desirable .me domain names are still to come on the domain auction block in september and for that reason all eyes remain peeled on the auctions to see what happens. It is possible that .me will not only break every internet record in the field of new domain registration, but it might truly shatter all of them and completely re-write the book.
